A law firm is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Mid-Level Product Design and User Interface Patent Agent to join their intellectual property team. This role requires a strong academic background, practical law firm experience, and a deep understanding of patent preparation and prosecution. The successful candidate will work with a diverse range of technologies, including software, AI, IoT, and quantum technologies, focusing on product design and user interface innovations.Key Responsibilities:

Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities with a focus on product design and user interface technologies.Collaborate with inventors and clients to understand and document technical innovations.Draft, review, and file patent applications for various technologies, including software, artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, and quantum technologies.Conduct patent searches, analyze prior art, and provide legal opinions on patentability.Manage and oversee patent prosecution, including responses to office actions and patent examinations.Communicate with the USPTO and international patent offices on patent matters.Collaborate with legal teams on patent strategy, including patent portfolio management.Advise clients on intellectual property strategy, including patent landscape analysis and IP due diligence.Stay up to date with developments in patent law, particularly in emerging technologies.Job Requirements:

Minimum of 2+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.Strong academic background in physics, electrical engineering, or computer science.Proven experience in patent drafting and prosecuting applications for software, artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, or quantum technologies.Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Superb writing and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.Proven experience in law firm settings and with corporate clients in the engineering or tech sectors.Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.Preferred Skills and Experience:

Familiarity with software-related technologies, AI, IoT, and quantum technology patent applications.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to grasp and communicate complex technical concepts.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with external clients.Prior experience with patent strategy and portfolio management.Strong client relations skills with the ability to provide clear, concise advice and recommendations.Ability to handle complex, high-stakes patent matters.High level of organization and time management.Willingness to keep up with trends in patent law and technology.Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills.
