Advanced Turf Solutions (ATS) is an employee-owned green industry distributor that provides expert advice, cutting-edge technologies, and valued service to turfgrass managers in the lawn care, landscape, golf, and sports field markets. The company was founded in 2001 with the vision of empowering customers to maintain green spaces for generations to come.

Today, ATS serves customers in 30 states with 32 store locations and 120 outside sales representatives, and the company is in the process of launching an e-commerce platform to meet the needs of the next generation of customers.

Xylem Marketing is the internal marketing department for Advanced Turf Solutions and operates as an in-house marketing agency, supporting a small portfolio of internal brands and subsidiary companies. This structure allows Xylem Marketing to deliver tailored marketing solutions for each company while leveraging shared resources and expertise to drive efficiency and consistency across all brands.

Job Overview:

Advanced Turf Solutions is seeking an experienced director of marketing to drive the marketing strategy, positioning Advanced Turf Solutions for long-term growth, with a focus on expanding our e-commerce, personal selling, and in-store presence. The director of marketing will lead a dynamic team of brand managers and marketing specialists, overseeing the marketing strategies and execution for multiple brands and ensuring alignment with the company’s overall goals. The director of marketing is also responsible for managing relationships with clients at subsidiary companies, optimizing marketing operations, managing budgets, and allocating resources across multiple brands and campaigns to maximize efficiency and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

Lead and mentor the marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration.

Oversee the recruitment, development, and performance of marketing staff.

Manage relationships with external marketing agencies and partners.

Strategic Marketing

Lead the creation, execution, and optimization of multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive demand generation and customer acquisition.

Work with brand managers to develop and refine marketing strategies for each brand, ensuring they align with the company’s overall goals and objectives.

Drive a holistic marketing approach that bridges traditional and digital channels, creating an integrated customer experience across all touchpoints.

Monitor market trends, customer behavior, and competitor strategies to identify opportunities for growth and adapt marketing strategies accordingly.

Collaborate with the executive team to align marketing strategies with product development, sales, and overall company objectives.

Relationship Management

Manage cross-functional collaboration with other departments to ensure all marketing efforts are integrated and support the company’s goals.

Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients at subsidiary companies, being a trusted marketing advisor.

Oversee the development and execution of brand strategies to ensure they meet or exceed client expectations.

Manage high-level client communications, negotiations, and conflict resolution to maintain partner satisfaction.

Marketing Operations

Manage Xylem Marketing business operations.

Optimize marketing processes, technology, and data management to ensure efficient and effective marketing campaigns.

Ensure that all marketing practices comply with relevant legal standards, including intellectual property, advertising, and privacy laws.

Ensure all marketing materials, logos, and brand assets comply with trademark laws and industry regulations.

Project Management

Oversee project timelines and workflows, supporting brand managers in delivering projects on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards.

Define and communicate priorities across the marketing team, ensuring that time is effectively allocated and high-impact projects are prioritized.

Review marketing deliverables to ensure they meet quality standards and align with brand guidelines and project objectives.

Financial Management

Develop and manage the operating budget for Xylem Marketing, allocating resources efficiently across brands and ensuring that all marketing activities are executed within financial constraints while supporting business objectives.

Develop and manage the marketing budgets for Advanced Turf Solutions and partner companies.

Measure the financial impact of marketing campaigns, ensuring resources are spent on high-performing strategies that drive revenue growth and customer acquisition.

Provide regular reports to the executive team on the financial performance of key marketing initiatives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field (Master’s degree in business administration or marketing is preferred).

10+ years of marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.

Proven experience developing and executing successful marketing strategies and campaigns.

Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, tools, and trends.

Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team.

Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze performance metrics and optimize marketing efforts.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Experience with budget management, project management, and team leadership.

Knowledge of CRM tools, e-commerce platforms, marketing automation platforms, and analytics software (e.g., Salesforce, Commerce Cloud, Marketing Cloud Account Engagement/Pardot, Google Analytics).

Familiarity with agile project management practices.

Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 10-15% travel) for industry events and meetings.
