Job Summary

We are looking for a GIS Analyst to join our Planning Team!

The purpose of this position is to assist the Planning Division by assigning addresses and maintaining the address point GIS layer, maintaining, and updating Planning's GIS layers, and creating maps and conducting spatial analysis as needed for current planning and long-range planning.Essential Job Functions

Addressing : Assigns addresses and maintains the address point GIS layer, communicates address assignments with internal and external customers, reviews proposed street names and oversees street name change requests, assists internal and external customers with addressing issues or questions. Conducts an address review for all development requests. Assigns addresses, assigns suite numbers, and verifies addresses for any requests outside of the development review process. Updates external agencies such as the post office, TC-911, and appraisal districts with assigned addresses. Creates and maintains documentation for address assignments and addressing policies.

GIS Layers : Maintains and updates Planning's GIS layers, including subdivisions, site plans, specific use permits, zoning, zoning planned developments, and corridor overlay districts, while adhering to organizational quality standards. Interprets and transfers data from source documents including digital and/or printed plats, record drawings, plans, and legal descriptions.

Special Requests : creates maps and conducts analysis for special area plans or studies and creates maps depicting opposition to current planning cases.

All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.Minimum Qualifications

Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems or City or Urban Planning with a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems

Experience:

1 year of directly related experience.

Licenses : Valid Driver's License required

Certificate of Geographic Information Systems
