ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS!

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Employment and Training Services, is recruiting for anEmployment Services Technician 1/2 located in Anchorage!No Cover Letter Required!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/15.

What You Will Be Doing:Employment Services Technicians provide core services regarding employment, reemployment, and employer services to job seekers, employers and partner customers. This position's assigned duties are to administer the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) and State Training and Employment Program (STEP). This position is in a training environment, learning eligibility criteria, programmatic guidelines, case management functions and system operations. The primary focus under the WIOA and STEP program is to provide employment and training services to overcome barriers to employment through the administration of state and federal grant funding. This position provides a variety of services to customers which includes case management for training and supportive services, workforce preparation, resume writing, interviewing skills, cover letter assistance, job search assistance, labor market research and career exploration.

This is a vital position in providing services to priority populations within the Anchorage/Mat-Su region.

You will have the opportunity to represent the Midtown Job Center at official functions, and to market our services at civic and community events. The work schedule consists of 7.5 hour days, with a 37.5 hour workweek. We are open Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm. The State of Alaska offers generous paid leave accrual, health benefits and a comprehensive retirement plan. Upon passing probation, you will be eligible for an Alternate Work Week Schedule that will provide every other Friday off.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:This uniquely rewarding position is located in the heart of Anchorage in the Midtown Job Center. This Job Center has plenty of free parking and is surrounded by restaurants and grocery stores, which makes getting out of the office for lunch or a short break very convenient and time efficient.

This position may require local travel on a limited basis to conduct services. A state vehicle is available for scheduling and use.

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Services Technician Level 1:

One year of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

Employment Services Technician Level 2:One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.ORTwo years of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.Additional Required Information

FLEXIBLY STAFFEDThis is a flexibly staffed position with the opportunity to advance to Level 2 upon management's assessment that the incumbent is performing adequately and has successfully completed training as an Employment Services Technician 1.
