Job Summary:The

IT Field Technician

will be responsible for providing onsite technical support at various construction sites. This role involves the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of IT equipment, ensuring all systems and networks operate efficiently to support daily construction operations. The technician will work closely with the site teams and remote IT support to resolve any technical issues and ensure the smooth operation of critical IT infrastructure.Key Responsibilities:Onsite IT Support:Provide hands-on support for desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and other hardware.Set up and configure IT equipment, ensuring optimal performance for construction site operations.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and networking.Install and configure VPNs and secure Wi-Fi networks to ensure site connectivity.

Network Setup and Maintenance:Set up and maintain network connectivity at temporary construction offices, including routers, switches, and access points.Ensure reliable internet and network access for onsite teams, and troubleshoot connectivity issues as they arise.Manage and maintain cabling, networking devices, and other infrastructure for field offices.

Hardware and Software Installation:Install, configure, and update software, including construction-related applications and project management tools.Deploy and maintain specialized IT equipment such as ruggedized laptops, tablets, and site monitoring systems.Ensure all systems are properly patched and compliant with security protocols.

User Support and Training:Provide technical support to construction site staff, assisting with IT-related problems and offering user training when necessary.Address issues related to Microsoft Office, email, VPNs, mobile devices, and construction management software.

System Upgrades and Maintenance:Perform regular system checks, maintenance, and updates to ensure all equipment is operating at peak performance.Implement security protocols, backups, and disaster recovery plans for IT systems onsite.

Collaboration with IT Teams:Coordinate with remote IT support teams to escalate and resolve more complex issues.Work with IT and project managers to ensure seamless setup of IT infrastructure for new site locations.Assist in planning and deploying IT systems for new construction projects and site offices.

Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate documentation of installed hardware, network configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.Record all site support activities in the company's IT ticketing system, providing detailed updates and resolution timelines.Create and maintain inventory lists for IT equipment deployed at each construction site.

Compliance and Security:Ensure all IT systems are compliant with company security policies, including password management, encryption, and access controls.Implement and monitor security protocols, ensuring the safety and integrity of sensitive data on the site.

Skills and Qualifications:2-4 years

of experience in IT support or as a Field Technician, preferably in a construction or field environment.Strong understanding of

networking (LAN/WAN) ,

Wi-Fi , and hardware troubleshooting.Experience with installing and configuring operating systems (Windows, macOS) and software applications.Familiarity with VPNs, remote desktop support, and basic network security principles.Knowledge of

construction-specific software

(e.g., project management tools, site monitoring systems) is a plus.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage tasks across multiple sites.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with onsite construction staff.
