The Principal Provider Contract Strategist is responsible for the development, negotiation, and administration of provider contracts. This position will act as a lead for the Provider Contract Team ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, optimizing provider relationships, and supporting strategic goals through effective contract management.

  • Starting salary range based upon skills and experience: $137,800 - $172,300 plus robust benefits package


Responsibilities

  • Contract Negotiation and Management
    • Lead negotiations with healthcare providers to establish and renew contracts, ensuring terms are favorable for both parties and aligned with company goals.
    • Develop, review, and approve contract terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
    • Oversee the execution and administration of provider contracts, including amendments and terminations, to ensure timely and accurate implementation.
    • Hunt for opportunities to optimize contracts. Chase path of improvements, cost reductions with provider reimbursement improvements.
  • Leadership
    • Mentor Provider Contract team members, offering guidance and support.
    • Facilitate training for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in provider contracting and negotiation.
  • Compliance and Relationship Management
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations to provider contracting and reimbursement.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with providers to foster collaboration and address any contractual or operational issues.
    • Analyze contract metrics and provider recommendations for improvements or adjustments to optimize provider agreements.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, Finance, or related field; equivalent, relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education requirement.
  • 10+ years of experience in provider contracting, healthcare administration, or related field.
  • Experience with contract negotiations or management within the healthcare or health insurance industry.
  • Experience working with regulatory requirements and compliance in the healthcare sector.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare provider networks, contracting principles, and reimbursement models.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance standards.
  • Deep knowledge of healthcare contracting, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to enhancing provider partnerships.
  • Exceptional negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to assess complex contract terms and conditions.
  • Leadership and mentorship capabilities, including the ability to motivate and guide team members.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to think strategically and make data drive decisions to enhance contract performance and provider relations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with providers, internal stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment while maintain attention to detail.

This position may work remotely but will be required to report to our office in Madison, WI as needed to interact with providers and internal stakeholders. Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
