Box Inc, Redwood City, CA

WHAT IS BOX?

Box is the world's leading Content Cloud. We are trusted by more than 115K organizations around the world today, including nearly 70% of the Fortune 500 and leaders across deeply regulated industries (such as AstraZeneca, JLL, and Nationwide), to protect their data, fuel collaboration, and power critical workflows with secure, enterprise AI.

By joining Box, you will have the unique opportunity to continue driving our platform forward. Content powers how we work. It's the billions of files and information flowing across teams, departments, and key business processes every single day: contracts, invoices, employee records, financials, product specs, marketing assets, and more. Our mission is to bring intelligence to the world of content management and empower our customers to completely transform workflows across their organizations. With the combination of AI and enterprise content, the opportunity has never been greater to transform how the world works together and at Box you will be on the front lines of this massive shift.

Founded in 2005, Box is headquartered in Redwood City, CA, and we have offices across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

Cloud Native's mission is to transform how Boxers build services, enabling them to deliver exceptional products. We provide a unified platform for configuring, deploying, and running Box services seamlessly, securely, reliably, and efficiently across optimal regions worldwide.

As a Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to build and scale Box's Platform as a Service (PaaS) layer based on Kubernetes. With Box being an early adopter, supporter, and contributor of Kubernetes, you will work for the company that introduced kubectl, kube-state-metrics, and kube-applier to the open-source community. Our goal is to empower every developer to reach their highest potential by creating a delightful and straight-forward user experience and hiding the complexity of the cloud solutions.

We are currently developing a new system to replace the existing service configuration system. The goal of this new system is to make Cloud deployment easier by hiding the complexities of Kubernetes from users. It will also enable safe, unattended and secure continuous deployments.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing new components and services in our advanced Kubernetes-based service platform. This exciting opportunity allows you to work with cutting-edge technologies like Kubernetes, Istio, and Argo Rollouts that are shaping the future of public cloud.

This means you will:
  • Collaborate with developers to create scalable and resilient applications by designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure components such as container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes infrastructure.
  • Streamline development and operational workflows by implementing automation tools and frameworks.
  • Develop a comprehensive service configuration system using TypeScript on top of cdk8s.
  • Ensure the security of our services by patching vulnerabilities and upgrading libraries to meet strict FedRamp requirements.
  • Continuously improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of Box's Platform as a Service (PaaS).
  • Work closely with developers to ensure proper deployment and configuration of their applications in Kubernetes.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to address any production issues that may arise.

By joining our team, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our services platform while working with state-of-the-art technologies.
