Linux Systems Administrator

The Swift Group is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator with hands-on experience in Windows administration. The role involves designing, developing, testing, integrating, and deploying solutions for critical requirements. The position will focus on creating, testing, and maintaining environments, troubleshooting issues, and supporting the development of new, innovative technologies. This position is located in Northern Virginia.

Key Responsibilities:
- Administer Linux systems with a strong understanding of PowerShell.
- Navigate the Linux command line, including changing directories, creating files, and setting permissions.
- Create and edit configuration files tailored to specific solutions.
- Utilize beginner to intermediate scripting and automation concepts, particularly in configuration management and server herding.
- Apply security standards and best practices for Linux OS.
- Maintain and patch on-premises infrastructure, including software repositories.
- Manage and understand anti-virus software, NTP, DNS, and DHCP services.
- Demonstrate fundamental networking knowledge, including ports and protocols.
- Stand up and maintain web servers, with an understanding of server and networking hardware.
- Use ticketing systems like Jira, ServiceNow, or similar, to support engineering teams in building solutions from the ground up.
- 11+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with Linux and PowerShell administration.
- Strong knowledge of the Linux command line and configuration file management.
- Experience in scripting, automation, and server herding.
- Understanding of security standards, anti-virus software, and fundamental networking.
- Experience with ticketing systems and supporting engineering teams.
- BA/BS Degree or five or more years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
- Experience creating, testing, and maintaining various environments (test, development, production).
- Experience troubleshooting network and application issues.
- Experience preparing and delivering both program and user-level documentation.
- Familiarity with orchestration tools like Ansible is a plus.
