The Team
As a member of the Indy Data Engineering, Architecture, and Science (IDEAS) team, you will provide analytical support services to our key state clients and their dedicated core teams, under the mentorship of senior data consultants. Our data team works cross-functionally with professionals from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds including: actuarial, policy, finance, pharmacy, and data management - working together with the common goal of best serving our clients' needs. Location
The person hired for this role will work in a dynamic, hybrid environment, with 2 to 3 days per week of on-site work required in our Indianapolis office on a weekly basis.

The ideal candidate will possess advanced data science skills, have experience with healthcare claims data and social determinants of health data sets, and be adept at managing projects and teams. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management, and client communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Utilize advanced data science techniques to analyze and interpret complex datasets, including healthcare claims data and social determinants of health data
- Develop and implement data models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analyses to support client needs and drive data-driven decision-making
- Create comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders effectively
- Independently manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to high-quality standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts and junior data scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Engage with clients, including state health and human service agencies, to understand their needs, provide expert advice, and maintain strong relationships
- Ensure compliance with healthcare policies, regulations, and data privacy standards in all data analysis and modeling activities
- Participate in business development activities, including responding to RFPs, authoring white papers, and delivering industry presentations
- Stay current with emerging data science trends, tools, and technologies, integrating them into practice to enhance service offerings
- Oversee data governance and maintain data quality standards, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all data used and produced
Qualifications
- Experience working with healthcare claims data and social determinants of health data sets
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to non-technical audiences
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and data privacy standards, ensuring compliance in all analytical activities
- Experience in client engagement and relationship management, with strong interpersonal and consultative skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges
- Familiarity with data governance and quality assurance practices, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data analyses
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, with a portfolio of projects demonstrating expertise in:
- Machine learning and predictive modeling
- Statistical analysis and hypothesis testing
- Data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Programming languages such as Python, R, SQL
- Big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field
- Graduate degree, Master's or Ph.D., in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field
Preferred
- Experience working with state health and human service agencies
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid policy and regulations
- Familiarity with advanced analytics tools and platforms (e.g., SAS, STATA)
- Relevant certifications, such as Certified Data Scientist, Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in business development activities, including responding to RFPs, authoring white papers, and delivering industry presentations
