Job Description - Design Manager (226 Days) (RTP20240830-005)Job DescriptionDescriptionServe as the key coordinator with the Design Director for the development and implementation of the district’s Long Range Master Plan, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.Assist in the continuous review, revision, and maintenance of the district's design standards, ensuring they remain up-to-date and reflective of best practices.Collaborate with the Construction Services department and the Design Director to thoroughly review design deliverables, ensuring compliance with district expectations, architectural guidelines, and regulatory standards.Lead the development and management of special design-related projects, from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.Manage and maintain the district’s CAD and BIM files, ensuring all design data is accurately documented, up-to-date, and readily accessible for current and future projects.Act as the key coordinator for design reviews with district stakeholders, ensuring that the process follows the guidelines outlined in the Architect's Orientation Manual.Collaborate with Contract Managers to ensure that design specifications are appropriate and that there is consistent, high-quality oversight of project execution.Attend meetings and coordinate with city staff to review building permits, engineering, and zoning documentation, ensuring all district projects comply with local regulations and codes.Conduct thorough reviews of design deliverables to confirm conformance with the Architect's Orientation Manual and district design standards, addressing any discrepancies as needed.Assist the Design Director in developing and implementing design processes that promote efficiency, innovation, and adherence to district standards.Organize and coordinate design-related continuing education programs for Construction Services staff, ensuring that all personnel remain informed on industry trends, standards, and best practices.Assist the Design Director and Chief Construction Officer in conducting research and preparing publications that enhance the district’s knowledge base and support long-term planning.Work closely with the Director of Bond Communications to assist in the planning and execution of community meetings, providing updates on district design and construction projects.Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited university requiredMaster’s Degree from an accredited university preferredA minimum of two years of directly related experienceA minimum of two years of supervisory experienceRegistered Architect, Professional Engineer, or Certified Construction Manager preferredAbility to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, blueprints, schematics, construction plans, and specificationsAbility to communicate articulately in written and verbal formAbility to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to staff, management, parents and taxpayersAbility to understand, review, and approve construction financial documents, budgets, and payment authorizations by staff and Program Management FirmsStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to utilize Microsoft Office Professional software and Microsoft Project as well as various CAD softwareFamiliarity with mechanical and electrical design and installation criteriaFamiliarity with building codes and zoning ordinancesMust be able to maintain health and safety standards in conformance with federal, state, and insurance regulations
