Job Purpose:
To gain real world experience in the successful manufacturing of food products
Responsibilities:Work closely with product development scientists on a wide variety of value-added food projects (may require travel to other production facilities within the USA)Gain experience and apply knowledge of food science to the product development processLearn to operate a wide variety of food processing equipmentPractice communication skills, use analytical techniques, and apply critical thinking skillsLearn about product formulation and prepare prototypes in the lab/pilot plant for review by marketing, sales, operations and R&DConduct process and product troubleshootingTest new ingredients and processesRequirements:
Must have completed two years of a Food Science major at the time of applying (i.e. Junior Status) or another related field (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA strongly preferred)Demonstrated leadership skills are necessary for success in this positionStrong communication and problem-solving skillsPossess a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spiritMust be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United StatesApplicants must not now, or any time in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visaThis position will require access to and/or the utilization of a personal motor vehicle to get to and from the workplaceMust be comfortable with the preparation and consumption of a variety of Hormel Foods Products which may include but not limited to pork, beef, chicken, turkey and nuts.Location and Hours:
Position is based out of our Planters Innovation Center in Northbrook, ILInternship is about 10 weeks, full time, approximately 40 hours per week, beginning late May to early AugustCompensation/Benefits:
Competitive wage
The base pay range is $21 to $23 per hour; however, actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location
