Job Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing accounting operations of the company, to include the production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, maintain the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, maximize efficiency and profitability, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Management

Responsible for financial reporting process for our various divisions, these include Private Aviation, Food Service Management, Commercial Aviation and Corporate Catering. The reporting process includes weekly scorecard, month-end reporting, budgets, and interim forecasts.Support executive management in generating business plan, annual budgets, and monthly forecasts.Prepare financial statements and forecasts and monitor financial performance to ascertain compliance with lender caveats in support of our growth.Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.Controlling

Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.Ensure corporate policies and procedures are adhered to.Identify control weaknesses and implement cost control initiatives.Test internal control procedures and interaction with vendors and outsource companies:Accounts Payable - end to end AP process controls in order to manage our food costs, labor and operating expensesBilling - quality of direct data entryPayroll - control around Paylocity time & attendance, quality of input to the Company's HRIS systemGeneral Ledger - monitoring QuickBooks transactions and accountsAnalysis and Performance Driving

Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to track material and labor costs by division.Analyze financial trends, define, and initiate corrective measures.Recommend, lead and/or assist with new efforts to improve operational and financial performance.Work with operations on financial analysis, CAPEX requests, budgets, forecasts, etc.Ensure adequate controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets of the company.Ensure accurate and timely month-end close and financial reporting.Prepare/review balance sheet accounts monthly to confirm proper reconciliation and supporting backup.Conduct analysis/review of P&L accounts to support the month end process along with cost analysis and evaluation.Provide daily, weekly, monthly financial reports including labor, COGS, and other operating expense analysis in easily digestible formats.Ensure PO approval processes and general expense controls are implemented and followed by all team members.Oversee company procurement platform.Support external and internal audits.To the extent necessary, educate operations team on all financial systems and controls necessary, and ensure follow through by operations, to maximize company profitability.Work on ad hoc projects as directed.Drive productivity goals through regular Continuous Improvement reviews with Executive Management and Process Owners.Assist in planning labor based on forecasted business changes.Customer Profitability

Review pricing proposals for customers and assist executive team in pricing decisions.Assist executive team in maintaining effective analysis of profit and loss by customer.Company Core Values:

Requirements

10+ years proven accounting experience.5+ years' experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager.Minimum of three years of experience in F&B hospitality finance.Bachelor of Commerce or Similar or 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or similar major.Professional accounting certification, including CMA, CGA or CPA .Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP).Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and most proficient in Excel.Strong understanding of economic and banking business.Must possess a strong financial background and be able to do month end financial preparation and analysis, yearly budgeting, and facility accounting functions.Process-minded, strong data analytical and organization skills.Problem solver: ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.Accountability: sets high expectations and achieves them regardless of the barriers.Proven payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes.Exemplary history of financial project management.Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting.Attention to detail; thoroughness in accomplishing tasks ensuring the job gets done right.Flexible; ability to change course quickly based on the company's changing needs.Team Player; works cooperatively with others toward accomplishment of shared goals.Demonstrates a sense of urgency and works well under pressure.Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
