Mission or Goal of Unit:

The mission of the Obstetrics andGynecology department is to provide the highest quality clinical care in bothgeneral and specialty Obstetrics and Gynecology to central Virginia. Inaddition to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goals ofproviding undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field andadvancing the field through basic and clinical research.

Chief Purpose of this position:

TheDepartment of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking qualified candidates toprovide specialty care in General Obstetrics and Gynecology at VCU Health. Thisposition is designed to provide care primarily in general Obstetrics andGynecology, including surgery, in- and outpatient consultation and performanceof therapeutic procedures. This position will include participation in studentand resident education.

Position Responsibilities:

TeachingThe faculty member will have teaching responsibilities to include activelyparticipating in the department's educational activities, with particularattention to educating students and residents in their core educationalobjectives in general obstetrics and gynecology.

ResearchThe person filling this position is encouraged to initiate clinical researchprojects. They are expected to participate in and facilitate other departmentresearch and contribute to scholarly publications/presentations.

ServiceThe faculty member will serve on departmental, health system, and universitycommittees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field.The faculty member will be assigned to committees at the discretion of thedivision director and department chair.

ClinicalFull participation in the clinical activities of the general obstetrics andgynecology division is expected. Clinical activities are to be determined bythe general obstetrics and gynecology division head and are expected to includea combination of clinic, inpatient care, surgery, and participation innighttime call duties as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCUCompletion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residencyVirginia medical licensePotential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the Department of Obstetrics and GynecologyPreferred Qualifications:

Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residencyDemonstrated talent and experience in teaching and commitment to research, and patient careBC/BE by the American Board of OB/GYN
