R&D Group Leader
The R&D Group Leader manages the development of new and improved polymers and technologies. She/he coordinates and oversees the work of all technical personnel in R&D and Quality Control. The R&D Group Leader originates and assigns projects and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completion of those assignments. The R&D Group Leader cultivates a cooperative working environment and collaborative relationships with other departments.
Essential Functions:
Leads, mentors, and develops our team of scientists and techniciansDrives innovation – both long/short term, including product improvement and new product developmentLead activities focused on problem solving, product improvement, performance testing, and verification / improvement of application robustnessProject Management – Leads the technical efforts of our Industrial Chemist(s), establishing goals for project completion and delegation of projectsOversees Quality Department – supports Quality and Manufacturing to address quality concerns or processing issuesInterfaces with production to achieve a smooth transition from Lab Batches to the Pilot plantCollaborates with Purchasing Department as it relates to raw materials both new and currentDevelops relationships with Sales and prospective customers and existing customers to develop and/or maintain businessOversees lab processes and practices to streamline and improve them as appropriateFacilitates cross-functional relationships with manufacturing, application, marketing, and sales to identify potential product improvements or product line gapsPrepares timely reports and provides updates on project status, using good data collection and analytical skillsEstablishes clear timelines through project plans and resource managementLeads the development of quantitative product performance and application testing methodologiesManages technical relationship with vendorsAdheres to and encourages all safety guidelines
