Position Summary
McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking an
R&D Intern . This new hire will work over a 10-week Summer Internship Program (June 2 - August 8), 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday) in
Geneva, IL.
This role focuses on the application science of flavoring proactive demos in the Beverage & Health Business segments (Healthcare, Performance Nutrition Beverage, Performance Nutrition Bars, and Beverages). This person will work closely with Marketing, Flavor Creation, Research & Innovation and Sales departments.
RESPONSIBILITIESAssist Product Developers & Technicians with lab tasks / dutiesDeveloping basic benchtop application formulasSetting up and screening flavors for evaluationResponsible for the preparation / set-up of raw materials, finished products and retention samplesManage lab inventory of raw materials, snack base, & supplies needed to support daily tasks.Precise lab record / data keeping.Maintain sanitation and lab organizationEffectively communicate with related departments on projects and products as requiredREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current enrollment as an undergraduate college Junior or Senior in Food Science, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Biology, or Nutrition.Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate complex issues and conduct root cause analysis to resolve problems.Must be able to prioritize and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentHighly motivated, self-starter who is a forward-thinking problem solver with a strong work ethicEffective written and verbal communications skills that are clear and concise
