Job Description
Purpose:
Leads and manages food service, including all aspects of food preparation and service, personnel management, scheduling, and training. Develops and promotes good community relations by responding to comments and complaints regarding nutrition services.
Reports To : Director of Food Service
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt, Hourly
Qualifications:High school diploma, GED, or vocational school equivalent.Minimum of 3 years food service experience, along with specialized training in food preparation and/or food service management.Effective time management skills.Basic Math skills and ability to apply weights, measures, and amounts in recipes.Proficient customer service skills.Proficient knowledge of commercial food preparation, equipment, and food safety.Proficient computer skills to include use of the Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent leadership and problem solving skills.Essential Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Supervises and directs the work of assigned personnel.Capable of setting clear standards and direction for assigned food service personnel.Capacity to maintain composure under stress and pressure.Ability to be flexible and adapt to an ever changing environment.Effectively builds positive working relationships with assigned food services personnel, building/district personnel, and vendors.Delivers on the job training to all food service personnel.Coordinates communication with food services personnel, related building and district personnel, and vendors.Oversees and assists with timely preparation and serving of several quality food choices.Maintains record all food services, deposits, inventories, daily production logs, daily sales reports, HACCP logs, and other reports as assigned by the Director of Food Service.Maintains fiscal responsibilities by controlling inventory, labor, food waste, and accurate purchasing.Maintains inventory of supplies, ordering, receiving, storage areas, labeling, and rotation of stock.Assures compliance with all Kansas Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and HACCP Standards.Exercises good judgment in decision-making while maintaining required KSDE and KSDA standards.Utilizes conflict resolution skills when working complaints and other concerns.Completes annual performance evaluations for all food service personnel.Facilitates all food services programs to include but not limited to breakfast, lunch, snacks, and catering.Monitors and delivers food and work place safety training to all assigned food services personnel.Assists personnel with food preparation as needed.Assists personnel with cashiering as needed.Ensures that all duties and responsibilities are performed in a safe manner.Performs other related duties as assigned.Physical Demands:

As well as the ability to reach overhead.Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.Able to work with and be exposed to odors, chemicals, and a noisy environment.Must use hands and fingers in a repetitive manner.Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Ability to lift, pull, and/or push up to 50 pounds.
