Cancellation Policy

Hospital may cancel up to 3 times per contract. Each cancellation could be a full shift or any part of a shift. (Hospital may also pay full hours for a particular shift, in lieu of cancellation).

Unit Notes

MSP will prescreen and manager will conduct an interview. Unit ER/ED Trauma Level? STEMI Receiving? Stroke Center? "Critical Assess Level III Stroke Center- will give meds (TPA etc) and ship out" # Beds/Trauma Bays 5 Do you have a Fast Track no Do you have a separate Triage area? If so, do you allow/require travelers to do Triage? Triage room Do you have a separate holding area in the ER or are ER holds intermixed w/in the ER? Do not have inpatient holds- the only holds will be transfer holds awaiting transport Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms? no Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER? no On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day? On average 14-19, can see up to 30 on a busy day Nurse: Patient Ratios "Try to staff 2 nurses and most of the time they don't get more than 5 patients at a time so the RNs share patients. House supervisor will help out if needed, also helps with transfers" Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS?) "BLS, ACLS, PALS Prefer TNCC " Common diagnoses/Types of patients "Any and all- everything is going to come through Peds-Geriatrics. Do see some psych. Do not admit peds" Experience or 'Must have' skills Need 1 year experience, ok with first time travelers Common drips? all typical drips seen in the ER, will do moderate sedation. Will only do propofol if intubated for transfer ED Physician/Mid-Levels only MDs- 1 on for 24hrs Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? House supervisor is the charge and during the week there is an ER manager in house during the day as well Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters? Ratios? Duties? 1 tech that works 4 hours per week Is RT in the ER 24/7? Do they do ABG's, breathing Tx, & EKG's? RNs do own breathing txs and EKGs- no RT in house or on call RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? can vent a patient- portable vent to get setup to tx out, BiPAP, nebulizers Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the Tele monitors? "RNs responsible for monitoring Nihon Kohden- main monitor an nurses station and every room has a monitor" X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport? "X-Ray and CT available 24/7, they will help transport patients Can do CTAs here 24/7" Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw? RNs usually draw on labs but they are available Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "645-715 Travelers will fill in where needed" Weekend Requirements every other weekend Holiday Requirements 1 major, 1 minor Is there call or a standby requirement? no Floating Requirements no- will only float if cross trained in past experience, will not cross train here.
