(June 2024 - June 2025)FUNCTION: Global InnovationLOCATION: Cary, North Carolina or RemoteTYPE: PermanentGET TO KNOW YOUR AREA:Ensure the safety of customers, tollers, transporters and employees by overseeing the management, creation, and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) across the organization for co-formulants, finished goods and in-licensing products.Ensure compliance by monitoring and managing hazardous materials and ensuring adherence to international and regional regulations. Provide essential documentation to various internal and external customers for various product and transport statements.YOUR MISSION WILL BE TO:Ensure development, review and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals and hazardous materials used or produced by the company (finished goods, co-formulants, in-licensing products) in collaboration with external consultants/ 3rd party. Ensure an organized system for SDS documentation is established and maintained and readily accessible to employees, customers and regulatory agencies as required.Lead Outsource Provider Relationships with contractors, consultants, and third-party providers, including attending meetings, handling communications, and resolving issues to ensure alignment with company standards.Develop and implement improvements to streamline operations, enhance compliance, and ensure alignment with industry best practices. Create and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to establish robust and scalable processes for the effective management of SDS and chemical hazards.Monitor Global Regulations (e.g., OSHA, GHS, REACH, WHMIS) and oversee the implementation of regulatory changes made by third-party providers, including coordinating the release and integration of updated SDS.Work closely with Formulation Technology, Product Chemistry, Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE), Trade Compliance, Product Supply and Procurement to gather accurate chemical information and ensure proper documentation. Collaborate to ensure proper classification, warehousing and transportation of intermediates and products.Serve as a resource for safety information and answer SDS-related inquiries.Assist in investigating and documenting incidents involving hazardous materials, providing insights from SDSs to help prevent future occurrences.Accountable for developing and maintaining a record of Envu products (finished goods, co-formulants, in-licensing products) containing substance listed in international trade regulations as limited substances, regulated substances or banned substances (e.g. EU REACH, EU PIC, ODS, POP) and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and import & export requirements. Records to be kept up to date based on changes of regulations and introduction of new products.Accountable for ensuring delivery of product statements related to all country demands such as, but not limited to,-substance of concern, hazardous statements, ozone emitting, PFAS, microplastics, nano particles, allergens, narcotic/drugs, export certificates of hazardous materials,-food statements for customers (halal, kosher, etc.)-statement on natural original (Australia), emergency Sheet (Brazil)-transport statements (hazard, substance declaration, export statements, transport general classification, trade compliance, etc.)-product/production characteristics (flammability, explosiveness, ignition, storage, transport, etc.)-PIC (banned substances in international transport) - a.i. and co-formulantsDevelop and maintain a platform for managing requests and providing answers / documentation to the various internal stakeholders. Ensure adequate and successful workflow of communication.ARE YOU READY FOR THE ROLE?Main requirements:Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related field.Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of experience, Master's degree plus 8+ years of experience or PhD plus 5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance and safety management (including Safety Data Sheets and Chemical Hazards).Proven experience in evaluating and improving processes and tools for SDS and chemical hazard management.Deep knowledge and understanding of chemical safety regulations and risk assessment methodologies.Skilled in overseeing third-party relationships, including managing communications, resolving issues, and ensuring timely updates. Strong project coordination abilities for implementing changes and managing the release of updated documentation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and drive results.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.Fluent in English, both written and spokenCertification in dangerous goods, hazardous materials management or safety (e.g., CSP, CHMM, CIH).Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and good knowledge on data management is needed.Environmental Science U.S. LLC is an Equal Opportunity employer.
