Primary Purpose of Organizational UnitThe Office of Admissions is responsible for attracting, admitting, and enrolling eligible students, in accordance with university policies. The unit facilitates the development, implementation and monitoring of academic policies, practices, and procedures to meet goals related to student progression, performance, and graduation. The Office collaborates with other campus units in coordinating student transition initiatives that lead to positive adjustment, academic success, and persistence to degree completion.
Description of WorkThe Assistant Director of Admission helps the Associate Director and the Director of Admissions manage the recruitment of qualified and academically talented prospective first year students. This position helps to develop and implement plans for outreach in high schools, college fairs, and on-campus recruitment programs. Additionally, the position is responsible for supervising the Admissions Counselors.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this PositionRequires strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with administrators, faculty and students; ability to write reports; strong computer skills; and effective organizational skills and customer service skills. Possess an interest in working with a diverse population of students. Position requires extensive travel to targeted recruitment sites.
Minimum Training and ExperienceA Master's degree from an accredited institution with two years of experience in recruitment, sales, admissions, customer service, public relations, enrollment or student services or a related field at a high school, pre-collegiate program, university or other education related institution and/or a combination of education and experience.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
