This posting is for a PRN Preop PACU PAT Nurse (RN) for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Zephyrhills. This position provides nursing care to patients in the post-procedure period. Candidates must have a current Florida Registered Nurse license and ACLS. Prior OR Pre-Op & PACU experience preferred. Previous ASC experience a plus. Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role desired. Endo experience preferred. ACLS/BLS, Great IV skills

Processes pre-procedure patients efficientlyInitiates documented procedure verification processIdentifies patient with 2 identifiers: verbally and compares armband and medical recordVerifies consentObtains thorough medical history and assesses patientNotifies physician / anesthesia of any medical conditions with potential for adverse outcomeObtains comprehensive medication listObtains pregnancy waiver signature or performs urine pregnancy test when indicatedInitiates intravenous lineProvides patient educationProvides post-anesthesia careEnsures appropriate monitoringPerforms timely assessments and interventionsCommunicates with physician / anesthesia pertinent issues / changes in patient conditionDischarges when criteria met and according to physician orderProvides documented discharge educationEnsures Recovery Room staffing standards are maintainedDocuments in the medical recordNotes and follows through with physician ordersManages medication administration according to physician orderConducts patient pre-procedure phone callsPerforms diagnostic tests upon physician order12 lead EKG'sPhlebotomy/blood drawsSchedules additional tests as orderedFollows universal precautionsCompletes occurrence reports when indicated within shift of occurrenceRetrieves and reviews documents from PENTAX dictation system, Intergy and Intergy iEHR, as necessaryAdheres to all FMC and unit policies and proceduresAttends and participates in staff meetings and CQI teamsMaintains unit training requirementsPhysical and Mental Demands:

High School Diploma or GED equivalentCurrent Florida RN licensure REQUIREDCurrent BLS and ACLSStrong customer service orientationExcellent Communication skillsBasic computer proficiencyExperience in an ASC is preferred but not requiredMinimum 1 year of experience
