Job Description

Purpose of Position: Under general direction, provides day-to-day supervision of the Ultrasound Department in the delivery of ultrasound services. Performs a variety of ultrasound procedures of a higher-technical level to assist in the medical diagnosis and assessment of patients. Acts in compliance with NYC Health + Hospitals, health care setting, and other appropriate regulatory requirements and patient safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Supervises the delivery of ultrasound services, in accordance with established standards and procedures for the service area; recommends changes and improvements relating to the delivery of services, as appropriate.2. Plans, schedules, coordinates and reviews the day-to-day activities of the area to ensure continuous flow of work and optimize productivity.3. Supervises ultrasound staff and other appropriate personnel; provides training, assigns work, evaluates performance and initiates and/or makes recommendations for personnel actions.

Minimum Qualifications1. Completion of the NYC Health + Hospitals Supervisory training within three (3) months of appointment; and2. Valid certification in Sonography issued by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography(ARDMS), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Cardiovascular CredentialingInternational (CCI); anda. Two (2) years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, one (1) year of which must have beenin a supervisory capacity; orb. Three (3) years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
