We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to join our firm as
Area Manager
for Kentuckybased out of our
Lexington
office .
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both project management and business development and broad experience with the planning, design and construction of civil infrastructure across multiple disciplines. The ability to identify opportunities and work with local and regional technical staff to develop and deliver projects will be crucial for success. Additionally, this role will serve as the office manager for our Lexington office and be the primary representative for our firm in Kentucky.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages the business and technical operations for Kentucky with the goal of growing our presence.Collaborates with sales staff to identify and develop pursuit strategies for clients and projects including teaming with other firms and sub-consultants.Collaborates with marketing staff to promote our brand and services within Kentucky.Manages relationships with municipal clients, private developers, and state agencies to build and maintain successful partnerships.Responsible for project performance and oversight of planning, design, and construction services for a variety of civil and environmental engineering projects and clients.Identifies staffing needs and skills gaps and works with HR to identify and pursue candidates.Ensures that workload forecasting, QA/QC, billing, and invoicing are done according to company guidelines.Works with project managers to manage project scope, client requests and develop corrective action plans as needed.Mentors staff and ensures that appropriate coaching and development activities are taking place.Participates in professional organizations and events to advance the firm's image and develop relationships with clients, prospects, and partners.Functions as office manager with responsibility for facility maintenance, leases, and local events.Position Requirements
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline is required; KY PE license is desirable.10+ years of progressive experience managing pursuits and projects for public or private sector civil engineering projects is required.Deep understanding of the Kentucky market for engineering services including public agencies and private development with the ability to identify current/future needs, funding sources and entry points.Ability to build relationships as a trusted advisor with potential clients and partners in Kentucky to grow our practice within the state.Experience with the planning, design and construction of local roads, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and drainage projects.Experience with project management functions including project scoping, schedule, budget development and QA/QC.Excellent communication skills with the ability to make public presentations and lead internal initiatives and staff meetings.Valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the area as needed.
