The Billing Coordinator is responsible for submitting and monitoring Mental Health billing claims for the L.A. County Department of Mental Health (LAC-DMH) through the Integrated Behavioral Health Information System (IBHIS). The role involves correcting and resubmitting denied claims, maintaining accurate client records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, and working closely with clinicians to ensure timely and accurate billing practices.

About the Role:

Ensure timely submission of Mental Health Department billing claims into the LAC-DMH Integrated Behavioral Health Information System (IBHIS).

Monitor, correct, and resubmit denied or pending billing claims within 72 hours of the original submission date.

Provide weekly reports on denied and resubmitted claims to the accounting department.

Ensure that unbilled claims do not exceed $2,500 at the end of any given month.

Submit monthly reports of total claims submitted to LAC-DMH by the 10th of each month to accounting.

Perform monthly Medi-Cal eligibility checks for all clients to ensure they maintain official eligibility for services.

Process clinically approved paperwork (e.g., intakes, annuals, discharges) in the EHR system and upload required LAC-DMH documents.

Collaborate with Mental Health Division staff to submit Outcome Measures into the OMA system

Work closely with clinicians and a wraparound team for billing, collaborating on quality assurance (QA) within Mental Health.

Qualifications:

A minimum of

two years

experience in mental health billing

required

Experience with Mental Health Medi-Cal and 3rd party billing.

Proficiency in

Exym billing software

required.

Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated computer literacy (Microsoft Office platforms).

Preferred Skills:Experience with LAC-DMHs Integrated Behavioral Billing system (IBHIS).

Pay Details:

$22.00 to $27.00 per hour
