Job Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Student Success and Retention, the Student Wellness and Accessibility Manager provides vision and direction for counseling services, coordinates services for students with disabilities and special needs, and assists with student disciplinary matters. The manager promotes students' personal development and psychological well-being through services including, but not limited to, case management, outreach programming, training, consultation, crisis intervention, and assessment. The manager is responsible for engaging students in a manner that enhances the student experience and contributes to student success.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages and coordinates the design, development, provision, and assessment of student wellness services, including, but not limited to, case management, healthy lifestyle guidance, counseling, crisis intervention, mental health, disabilities, and other special needs services that holistically support student success, persistence, retention, and graduation.Interprets federal (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of 1998, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) and state regulations pertaining to the rights of students with disabilities. Develops procedures and practices to ensure compliance which includes the evaluation and determination of appropriate accommodations for an ongoing caseload of new and returning students. Encourages the development of a supportive campus environment by establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with campus departments and communicating with faculty and staff regarding student accommodation plans and the requirements of disability law to foster student success.Provides confidential counseling services to students, including assessment, crisis intervention, short-term counseling, disability counseling, case management services, and referrals to campus and community resources. Serves as a connection to community resources and provides community referrals for prospective and current students to address barriers to success, retention, and goal attainment.Leverages technology solutions to support services for students and to maximize communication, data collection, management, and efficiency. Uses systems to evaluate service utilization through a variety of reports and surveys. Ensures that reports and other required documentation are developed in accordance with requirements, policies, and procedures and within established timelines of the division. Responsible for annual planning, assessments, budget, and resource allocation related to the department.Assists with the design and implementation of the College's first-year experience program, which may include College Skills courses and the teaching of course(s) when needed. Creates and facilitates professional development and training activities for faculty, staff, and students to increase awareness of best practices on student wellness and accessibility related topics.Participates in campus activities, serves on College committees, and assists with student conduct and Title IX-related matters. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree and two (2) years of experience in student disability, counseling, and support services are preferred.Additional Comments
