Assistant Controller

Our client, a prominent firm in the asset management industry, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their Financial Operations team. This role involves supporting multiple fund of fund products across various asset classes, including private equity, venture capital, real assets, public equity, hedge funds, and fixed income. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and a deep knowledge of partnership accounting. This position is hybrid, with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, providing flexibility.

Responsibilities:

Review the administrator’s monthly/quarterly deliverables, including NAV packages.

Oversee the issuance of monthly/quarterly capital statements to investors.

Oversee the monthly/quarterly and annual compliance-related filings.

Oversee the annual audit process.

Oversee the approval and allocation of expenses across multiple products.

Assist the client operations team by responding to operational investor queries, reviewing administrator responses to investor queries, and addressing requests from investors’ auditors.

Review the calculation of quarterly distributions sent to investors.

Oversee the separately managed accounts and ensure compliance with the investment management agreements.

Oversee the surveying and data consolidation of underlying managers.

Manage external relationships with administrators, audit, and other vendors.

Build, implement, and improve upon controls and review processes to ensure consistency of all accounting information sent to investors and external parties.

Research technical accounting issues with the team, as needed.

Establish, maintain, and comply with accounting policies and procedures in accordance with best industry practices.

Qualifications:

Seven to eight years of finance experience in the asset management industry.

A combination of public and private accounting experience preferred.

CPA preferred but not required.

Experience with partnership accounting and reporting required.

Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Experience working with outsourced fund administrators.
