A pharmaceutical company in California is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join their growing team as a Senior Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for: Schedule, manage and coordinate the monthly/quarterly/annual close and SEC filing process Ensure adherence to and maintenance of internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies in financial reporting and fraud Supervise, direct and review the work of the Accounting staff, including cash management, accounts payable, purchasing, and general ledger reconciliations/journal entries Assist the Controller with the preparation of external financial statements, SOX review and audit support Assist the Accounting team with the review and/or preparation of billings for external grants and the preparation of Clinical Trial accounting and related reporting Work collaboratively with department leaders to accurately monitor and report on departmental spend, accruals, budgets and forecasts Assist the Controller with the management of general administrative functions including matters related to HR, IT and facilities Design, implement and maintain efficient and effective accounting processes, procedures and internal controls Performing other duties, as needed Qualifications:
8+ years of Accounting experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Experience preparing reconciliations, supporting schedules and international consolidations Strong knowledge of Technical Accounting matters, particularly ASC 842, debt accounting, robust internal control processes and the Company's accounting policies and procedures Expert knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and the SEC filing process Familiarity with Shareworks Equity management software and XBRL Strong and broad knowledge of GAAP Working knowledge of Sage Intacct, Bill.com or other mid-size to large ERP Microsoft Excel proficient Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills Great interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Strong attention to detail Highly organized Desired Skills:
Public Accounting background CPA and/or parts passed Experience in the Biotechnology and/or Pharmaceutical industry Experience with Clinical Research / Drug Development process and related Accounting Experience entering transactions, journal entries and extracting data from mid-level ERP systems Strong Intacct and Bill.com experience
