A pharmaceutical company in California is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join their growing team as a Senior Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for:Schedule, manage and coordinate the monthly/quarterly/annual close and SEC filing processEnsure adherence to and maintenance of internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies in financial reporting and fraudSupervise, direct and review the work of the Accounting staff, including cash management, accounts payable, purchasing, and general ledger reconciliations/journal entriesAssist the Controller with the preparation of external financial statements, SOX review and audit supportAssist the Accounting team with the review and/or preparation of billings for external grants and the preparation of Clinical Trial accounting and related reportingWork collaboratively with department leaders to accurately monitor and report on departmental spend, accruals, budgets and forecastsAssist the Controller with the management of general administrative functions including matters related to HR, IT and facilitiesDesign, implement and maintain efficient and effective accounting processes, procedures and internal controlsPerforming other duties, as neededQualifications:

8+ years of Accounting experienceBachelor's Degree in AccountingExperience preparing reconciliations, supporting schedules and international consolidationsStrong knowledge of Technical Accounting matters, particularly ASC 842, debt accounting, robust internal control processes and the Company's accounting policies and proceduresExpert knowledge of US GAAP,internal controls, and the SEC filing processFamiliarity with Shareworks Equity management software and XBRLStrong and broad knowledge of GAAPWorking knowledge of Sage Intacct, Bill.com or other mid-size to large ERPMicrosoft Excel proficientSolid analytical, mathematical, and research skillsGreat interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong attention to detailHighly organizedDesired Skills:

Public Accounting backgroundCPA and/or parts passedExperience in the Biotechnology and/or Pharmaceutical industryExperience with Clinical Research / Drug Development process and related AccountingExperience entering transactions, journal entries and extracting data from mid-level ERP systemsStrong Intacct and Bill.com experience
