Position Summary
The
Universityof New Mexico, Department of Emergency Medicine , is seeking full-time physicianfaculty members.In addition tosupporting our EM residency program, members will provide clinical care in bothour academic and community hospital facilities.Based on their interest and experience, theywill also support our educational, research or community engagement missions.
The Departmentof Emergency Medicine has 88 full-time and part-time attending physicians.We provide classroom and clinical educationfor the EMS Academy, as well as medical, pharmacy, and PA students.Our physician training programs have excellentnational reputations and include our EM residency and fellowships in PediatricEM, EMS, Ultrasound, Wilderness, Sports Medicine, and Medical Education. We have identified need in academic areas ofexpertise in PEM, EMS, Informatics, Simulation, Ultrasound, Quality andOperations.
UNM Hospital isNew Mexico's only Level I Trauma Center, the only Children's Hospital, and thestate's first Comprehensive Stroke Center.UNM Health System providers specialize in over150 areas and receive 900,000 outpatient visits, 22,000 surgical cases and100,000 emergency room visits each year.UNM prides itself on being an engaged partnerto the many communities it serves and accepts the responsibility that comeswith that commitment.The School ofMedicine (SOM), created in 1964, is celebrated for its research discoveries andinnovations in medical education and has earned a reputation for prioritizingdiversity in the physician and health professions workforce.The UNM Health Sciences Center integrates theSchool of Medicine with Schools of Population-Based Health, Pharmacy, andNursing to offer unique inter-professional training and collaborativeexperiences.
Qualifications
MinimumQualifications:
Have a MD or DOdegreeBoard certifiedor board eligible in Emergency Medicine3 to 5 years ofdirectly related experience which may include residency and fellowship.State of NewMexico Medical license and Federal DEA Certification at time of hire.PreferredQualifications:
Clinical skillsrelevant to Emergency MedicineCommunicateeffectively with physicians, patients and other health professionals as well aswith multi-lingual populations.Commitment andactivities related to community engagement.Interest orexperiences in scholarly, educational, or administrative work to includecoaching and mentoring.Personal andprofessional alignment with the values of the Department and the UNM School ofMedicine.A demonstratedcommitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well asworking with broadly diverse communities.
