GSE Solutions is seeking a General Ledger Accounting Manager who will play a key role in the Finance and Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this individual leads the accounting function, manages the monthly closing process, and ensures all internal controls documentation is maintained. GSE is looking for an individual able to work independently, effectively supervise staff, attentive to details, ability to identify and implement process improvements, and has strong Excel skills. This individual must reside within a 120-mile radius of Columbia, Maryland.

Pay Range- $110,000 to $120,000 annually, DOE.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for monthly close process
  • Reviews all GL entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and/or review monthly reporting package for US and International subsidiaries
  • Assist in preparation of memorandums and working papers, as needed, in support of annual audit and in conjunction with complex accounting transactions
  • Assist with managing the Company's Accounts Payable (A/P) functions
  • Supervises staff accountant and work with the subsidiary accounting teams as needed
  • Is a key contributor to the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting process
  • Research and advise Corporate Controller of new accounting standards as applicable
  • Maintains the internal controls RACM to ensure completeness and compliance with controls
  • Evaluate new leasing transactions under ASC 842 and maintain the lease schedules
  • Contributes to the development of supervised staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Competencies:
  • Excellent organization skills

  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple commitments
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office with a focus on Excel
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle E-Business Suite r12 a plus)
  • Experience with Private Equity reporting and corporate consolidations highly preferred but not required

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Finance or Accounting, CPA highly preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including 2 or more years managing a team

Working Conditions:
  • This is a remote position but the candidate must reside within a 120-mile radius of Columbia, Maryland.
