The right Candy Craftsman checklist will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.

This role of a Candy Craftsman is to produce key retail product from raw materials in the applicable craft as assigned by the Master Craftsman or production schedule while providing engaging demonstrations of the craft. To be done in a manner consistent with the values and mission of The Dollywood Company.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.

Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Produce high quality key retail products from raw materials in the applicable craft as assigned by Master Craftsman or production scheduleProvide guest excellence through entertaining, interactive and engaging structured demonstrations of the craftProvide on-going demonstrations as approved by the Master Craftsman that relate to the craft and contributes to improved salesMaximizing of profit from expense control relating to improved production techniques, meeting production schedules. Ensuring 100% accuracy of current recipes and adhering to them. Ensures 100% accurate raw materials inventory monthlyIdentify the quality of the raw materials with assistance of Master Craftsman or LeadershipAssists in the training of Apprentice Craftsmen as assigned by the Master Craftsman or SupervisorMaintain a positive, friendly, and courteous atmosphere for guests and hosts in assigned areaInsuring compliance and enforcement of safety regulations and practices relating to the craft. Adhering to the current Merchandise safety standardsAssists in the daily operation of assigned area as to retail sales and daily duties of stocking, cleaning, and other preparation for opening each dayFollows established guidelines in assigned area through proper costuming, guest recognition, attendance, employee relations, product knowledge, energy conservation, and environmental concernsAssists Master Craftsman in development of new products that result in improved salesWork a flexible schedule, varying early and late shifts and days offFollow proper procedures of filling out costing forms and production reports as assigned by Master CraftsmanProtect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers, including PCI complianceSupports and exhibits behaviors that are in alignment with our Company Vision, Mission and Core ValuesManagement reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time

Education and Experience Required

Must be at least 18 years oldHigh school diploma or equivalent. Trade school or comparable experience in the applicable craft, or training within the guidelines of an apprenticeship in the craftKnowledge of raw materials, production techniques, costing, vendor relations, safety precaution, and use of chemicals relating to the craft being applied forPrevious experience with teaching others and group presentations preferredExperience in the operation of machinery or tools relating to producing and demonstrating the craftMust successfully complete a pre-employment background check including motor vehicle and drug screenKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

In many cases extreme heat (i.e., blacksmithing, glass blowing, sand casting, etc.)
