The

Communications and Information Technology Department

(CIT) is responsible for the administration of the City's information and communications systems and infrastructure. Our services include the planning, procurement, delivery, maintenance and training which support the business functions of City departments through technology. The Communication and Information Technology department's responsibilities include: computer hardware systems, data and telecom infrastructure, data management, information security, radio and wireless communications, software and applications, and telephone and voice systems.The InternshipThe

Communications & Customer Support Division

of the CIT Department is looking for a dedicated, flexible, individual with a desire to pursue a career in Information Technology, to serve as a part-time Intern. This position provides assistance with customer and helpdesk support. The Information Technology Intern (Communications & Customer Support) will also assist with the installation and maintenance of computer systems.

The Information Technology Intern (Communications & Customer Support) will have hands-on training with installing and replacing computer systems in a government organization.

As a dedicated member of the Communications and Customer Support team within the CIT Department, you will gain hands-on experience in a professional IT environment. As an Intern I, you'll engage directly with endpoint management, customer support, and system maintenance, providing you with practical skills in installing and managing various computer systems. This role not only enhances your technical abilities but also exposes you to the intricacies of IT operations within a governmental setting.

HOURS:

This is part-time internship will

last up to six months , but could end sooner based on department needs.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

The Intern I is a non-benefited, entry-level position for high school students, recent high school graduates, and current college students, preferably with a minimum of six months of paid or unpaid work experience.

Ideal CandidateThe most successful candidate will possess;

A willingness to learn and the desire to pursue a career in Information Technology;Experience with Microsoft 365 products;The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public;An understanding of principles and practices of computer and desktop support;Experience with communicating with users and following instructions;The ideal candidate will be a college student pursuing a career in Information Technology, computer support, or a related field.

Certifications in Microsoft Teams Administration, Endpoint Management, Azure ID, CompTIA in network, technology, or security are highly desirable, but not required.HOW TO APPLY & EXAM PROCESS

Health Insurance

(Sec. 4.4)Employee working more than 30 hours per week on a regular basis over 12 months will receive City paid one-party part-time health coverage ($372.62).

Retirement

(sec. 3.1)Only applicable to Stage Manager, Theater Technician, Facility Operations Attendant, Senior Facility Operations Attendant and Juvenile Counseling Intern.PERS 2%@55City pays 7% EPMC.New employees hired on or after 11/1/1992 pay the 7% employee contribution.PERS 2%@62" New" members hired on or after 1/1/2013 pay 50% of normal cost with three year average final compensation.

Holidays

Four (4) hours per paid holidayEnvironmental Aides:

Eight (8) hours per paid holiday*To be eligible, employee MUST work at least 12 hours during the pay period in which holiday falls.(New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, Lincoln's birthday, Washington's birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, The day after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve).Stage Manager, Theater Technician, Facility Operations Attendant, Sr. Facility Operations Attendant, Box Office Attendant and Sr. Box Office Attendant:

shall receive four (4) hours holiday pay for Christmas Day, New Years Day and Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday.Juvenile Counseling Intern, Cable TV Writer, Cable TV Production Assistant:

receive no holiday pay

Bereavement Leave

(sec 3.4)Up to five (5) work shifts of bereavement leave; three (3) shifts with pay and two (2) shifts without pay per death of eligible family members

Shoe Allowance

(Sec. 3.7)Senior Aides, Facility Operations Attendants, Sr. Facility Operations Attendants, Theater Technicians:

Allowance of $82.50 each 6 months of employment (paid June and December), for those assignments requiring the wearing of safety shoes.
