SummaryResponsible for setting up and operating CNC laser machines to accurately cut and shape metal parts according to precise specifications
Essential FunctionsSet up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to cut sheet metal according to production orders and blueprints.
•Interpret blueprints, sketches, and CAD drawings to program the laser machine.
•Perform routine maintenance on laser cutting equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and troubleshooting to prevent downtime.
•Conduct daily housekeeping tasks to keep the work area clean and safe.
•Verify that all parts meet specified quality standards before and after laser processing.
•Operate CNC laser machines, ensuring precision in cutting and shaping metal components.
•Utilize additional machine shop equipment to perform secondary operations as required.
•Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
•Report any safety, quality, or waste issues to the supervisor immediately.
•Other duties and assignments as needed and directed by Group Leader / Supervisor or Department Manager
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Able to follow verbal and written instructions
•Good mechanical aptitude
•Able to do basic shop math, read blueprints and use measuring tools such as micrometers, gauges, and dial calipers, etc.
•Able to set up / operate Laser cutting equipment to produce parts to specification
•Must be willing to cross-train and learn new skills and techniques
•Able to use forklift.
•Some lifting is required
•True Laser experience preferred.
Education and Experience
High School or GED level education is preferred
•Equivalent experience in assigned trade/vocation can be substituted for educational minimums
•Minimum 3 years' experience operating CNC Laser cutting Machines
•Previous computer-controlled programming experience preferred
