Accounting manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for proactively managing their day-to-day responsibilities while managing a team of five accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will have experience partnering with a diverse accounting team. This individual must have outstanding leadership skills and an open and direct communication style. This position is 3 days a week in Washington, DC.

salary: $120,000 - $130,000 per yearshift: Firstwork hours: 8 AM - 5 PMeducation: Bachelors

Responsibilities

• Ensures that monthly activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner (statements, payroll, month end close, month end reconciliations)

• Partners with creation of policies and procedures, internal controls, and other corporate initiatives

• Collaborates with department heads and peer group in support of overall department goals and objectives

• Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy

• Ensures a clean and timely year end audit

• Supervise the accounting group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met

• Provide training and coaching to new and existing staff as needed

• Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.

• Work with assigned direct reports to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.

Microsoft Dynamics (GP) and SharePoint experience is a MUST!
