Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 per year

Job Details

We are a well-established law firm specializing in third-party defense litigation, providing exceptional legal services to insurance carriers, corporations, and self-insured entities.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Third Party Defense Paralegal to join our Florida office.

The ideal candidate will play an integral role in supporting attorneys in all aspects of defense litigation.

  • Case Management: Maintain and organize physical and electronic files, ensuring all documents are accurate and up to date.
  • Discovery: Assist in managing all phases of discovery, including drafting discovery requests, responses, and coordinating the production of documents.
  • Document Review: Review and summarize medical records, reports, deposition transcripts, and other case documents.
  • Legal Research: Conduct research on relevant case law, statutes, and regulations related to third-party defense.
  • Court Filings: Prepare and electronically file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents in state and federal courts.
  • Calendar Management: Coordinate and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial dates.
  • Client and Witness Communication: Assist attorneys with client and witness communications, including interview scheduling and gathering necessary case information.
  • Trial Preparation: Support attorneys in preparing for trial, including preparing trial binders, exhibit lists, and witness preparation materials.
  • Billing and Timekeeping: Assist in tracking and managing billable hours for case work and ensure all tasks are accurately documented.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Paralegal certificate or degree from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal in third-party defense or insurance defense.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Florida court procedures, rules, and e-filing systems.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis or Westlaw.
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, case management software, and e-filing platforms.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
  • Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
