Position Overview Grade(s) : 9-12 The Dean of Academics is responsible for the instructional coaching of teachers and for the academic outcomes for students and supports the culture and climate of a high school grade level and supports those students’ social and emotional learning and development. Duties/Responsibilities Provide instructional support and coaching to teachers as they work to ensure that each student can reach his or her academic potential. Support academic operations related to curriculum, assessments, and the school’s instructional guidelines. Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning team and the school leadership team to make instructional decisions based on student performance and develop teachers. Cultivate a standards-based, data, and results-oriented culture. Support curriculum development, using the backward design model, and advise scope and sequence based on essential content knowledge that addresses local, state and national standards. Other duties as assigned based on the current needs of the school. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, required. Minimum of 2+ years required as a Lead Teacher with a proven record of results. Minimum 1+ years preferred coaching teachers in both academics and Culture & Climate. Proficiency in managing a team, coaching teachers, and/or designing curriculum, preferably in the charter, private, or public school environment. Experience developing academic policies, systems, and school-wide analysis and data collection preferred. Prior experience working in urban schools and communities preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours. Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives. KIPP Capital Region offers a competitive salary ranging from $68,400 - $75,600/year. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP Capital Region will evaluate and determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our grade salary scale at point of hire.
