Zurich North America Zurich E&S is seeking an Underwriting Portfolio Manager reporting directly to the Head of Zurich E&S Casualty. This role involves overseeing portfolio management, streamlining casualty underwriting referrals, managing referrals, improving underwriting processes, and providing technical guidance as a subject matter expert. Additional responsibilities include mitigating portfolio exposure, supporting quality reviews, and developing training resources for onboarding and upskilling. The position requires travel as needed and advanced knowledge of casualty industry segments. Collaboration across Zurich E&S and North American underwriting leadership is essential. Responsibilities Include:
Contribute to strategic development of underwriting processes, including streamlining operations and refining processes to meet business goals. Identify emerging casualty issues relevant to current and future business needs and ensure strategies and processes consider these findings. Manage Casualty Underwriting Manager desk reviews to maintain quality and coordinate with Zurich E&S CUO on quality reviews. Work with E&S Head of Casualty on qualitative review processes, including quarterly reviews and response actions. Develop and implement reusable training resources for onboarding managers, underwriters, and ASAs. Oversee portfolio management, monitor KPIs such as profitability and growth, and assess impact scenarios. Ensure strategic upskilling of ASA staff for technical support and renewal authority. Provide technical guidance and referral recommendations to support complex casualty risks and improve customer service. Perform referrals on individual accounts as needed. Verify risk levels and report to Zurich E&S CUO to ensure compliance with policies. Collaborate with practice leaders and support functions to execute Zurich E&S strategy. This role can be filled at AVP or VP level, depending on experience and skills.
