Program Operations Division Budget Branch Chief Duties: The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Defender Services Office, Program Operations Division seeks a self-motivated, experienced budget professional to serve as the chief of the Program Budget Branch. The Program Budget Branch develops the annual Defender Services appropriation request, calculates individual federal defender organization budgets, issues allotments and grants, gives budget advice to 82 chief federal defenders around the U.S., conducts analysis related to budget and staffing, and monitors expenditures. The Supervisory Budget Analyst provides daily oversight, supervision, assistance, and support to a staff of four to six analysts. Supervising, directing, and providing technical and administrative guidance to program budget staff. Coaching and mentoring program budget staff. Coordinating the preparation and justification of the Defender Services annual appropriation request. Assigning and coordinating work across functional areas. Facilitating collaboration among staff, including creating new mechanisms and workflow models. Serving on a management team to provide advice on improving financial management. Establishing priorities, identifying solutions, developing short- and long-term program and project timelines, and ensuring deadlines are met. Overseeing Program Operations Division and Defender Services expenditures, and supporting budget development and execution. Acting as a liaison by developing and maintaining effective working relationships within the Defender Services Office and with stakeholders inside and outside the Judiciary. Serving on or leading various committees, meetings, and working groups. Preparing and presenting briefings and documents to AO senior management, court executives, and judges. Serving as subject matter expert and supervising Program Budget Branch subject matter experts. Closes:
