The Executive Director will be well poised to drive CDI’s future success by providing inspiring business leadership as well as developing a strong, collaborative partnership with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors. Currently, CDI’s Artistic Director acts in a dual role of Artistic & Executive Director. CDI has progressed to the point where it needs an experienced Executive Director who, in partnership with the Artistic Director, can secure and build the organization, allowing the Artistic Director to concentrate on the artistic, programmatic, and development aspects of the organization. The ideal Executive Director will be passionate about the arts, education, and children; and while prior experience in the performing arts will be helpful, it is not an absolute requirement. A genuine, demonstrated commitment to and interest in fundraising is essential. Responsibilities
Oversee a $330,000 annual budget. Work in concert with the Artistic Director to update and guide a strategic plan to implement the next phase of growth and innovation of CDI. Build and manage the overall and day-to-day operations of the organization taking direct responsibility for finance, development, administrative duties, human resources and communications/marketing. Collaborate effectively with the Artistic Director and the Board of Directors to ensure the organization defines and meets its mission, financial, and program goals. Develop and identify future Board members and continue to strengthen Board engagement and giving. Foster a collaborative and productive partnership with CDI’s key stakeholders and staff. Effectively represent CDI in a variety of contexts in order to cultivate a broad range of supporters, patrons, and artists while strategically building CDI’s brand awareness and outreach initiatives. In tandem with the executive team, identify and execute donor relation strategies that will result in a broader network of individual donors, the development of a large major donor group, while nurturing the current donor base to meet and exceed fundraising goals. Initiate foundation and corporate donor strategies in order to generate, renew, and develop additional sources of funding. Develop a strategy for building an “endowment”. Oversee the safety of all CDI staff, children and artists and patrons at all program sites. Advance CDI’s position as a model of excellence in the arts and education fields. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field Preferred experience in nonprofit management or working knowledge of performing arts management Areas of interest include: Successful fundraising from public and private resources to support non-profit programs Effective management, motivation, and staff and volunteer leadership Financial management including budgeting and performance measurement Marketing, public relations, and branding in a nonprofit environment Working with Boards of Directors Passion for the Arts as an important part of the community at large Ability to work in close partnership with the Artistic Director Exemplary communication skills and an ability to build relationships with community leaders, business executives, foundation officials, donors, and the media Demonstrated warmth, patience, perseverance, humor, integrity, enthusiasm, people skills, commitment, and an inspirational leadership style To apply
