Payroll Manager, North America

The Payroll Manager, North America is the senior-most payroll person and subject matter expert in the company, responsible for managing US and Canada payrolls, compliance, and tax issues. The ideal candidate will have experience with multiple payroll systems, preferably in industrial companies, and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, customer service, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to process improvement.

This position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer in Houston, Texas, and manages a team of payroll specialists across 50+ locations and over 5,000 employees.

Skills and Critical Tasks

• Organized with the ability to plan and monitor process improvements
• Experience managing end-to-end payroll processes, including compliance, controls, reporting, garnishments, and vendor management
• Effective communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and coaching abilities
• Maintains confidentiality and data security
• Ability to prioritize work effectively
• Coaches and develops team members
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Experience with Ceridian or similar payroll software
• Knowledge of HR policies, governmental regulations, and payroll compliance
• Supports HR policy development related to payroll
• Advises leaders on payroll practices and compliance

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of payroll experience
• At least 3 years in a leadership role
• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred
• Experience in industrial, union, and multi-state payroll processing
• Experience with payroll system implementation or transition is a plus
