Base pay range
$265,000.00/yr - $320,000.00/yr
Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (1-5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible.
Duties
- This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until July 31, 2025. The initial cutoff for referral is June 20, 2025, with subsequent cutoffs every 2 weeks. Applications received after will be considered as vacancies arise.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, salary increases

This full-time position is for a CLC Medical Director (Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Geriatrics, Palliative Care). Responsibilities include direct patient care, supervising staff, participating in quality improvement, and collaborating on admissions and teaching. The CLC provides long-term, short-term, hospice, and respite care in a 120-bed facility in Martinez, CA.
Major duties include:
- Managing comprehensive Veteran care, supervising physicians and nurse practitioners, and leading team meetings.
- Engaging in performance improvement, survey preparation, and ensuring safe admissions.
- Supporting teaching and research activities, communicating with staff and leadership, and participating in committees.
- Performing other duties as assigned, exercising full professional responsibilities.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if recruitment of citizens is not possible.
- Full, unrestricted medical license in the US.
- Completion of residency training in an approved program.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine; preferred in Geriatrics.
- Proficiency in English.
Additional qualifications include:
- Experience as VA Medical Director or in post-acute/long-term care is preferred.
Physical requirements: Visual, auditory, manual dexterity, ability to work in stressful situations, and comply with health requirements.
Education: MD or equivalent from an accredited school, verification of foreign degrees if applicable.
