Job Title: ICU Nurse Neuro, Cardiac, and Ventilator Experience
Location: Rockford, Illinois

Job OverviewWe are seeking highly skilled and experienced ICU Nurses with expertise in Neuro, Cardiac, and Ventilator patient care. The ideal candidates will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, critical care to patients in a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This position requires advanced clinical knowledge, strong critical-thinking skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a high-acuity setting.
Travel RNs may be required to float to the Step-Down ICU unit as needed.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive, specialized nursing care to critically ill patients with neurological, cardiac, and ventilator support needs.
Monitor and manage life-support equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders while maintaining strict adherence to protocols.
Assess and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, coordinating with the healthcare team to adjust care plans accordingly.
Conduct detailed neurological assessments and implement NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) evaluations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to optimize patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate, thorough documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, post-ICU care, and recovery expectations.
Ensure patient safety, infection control, and compliance with ICU best practices.
Current RN License in the state of Illinois (IL) Required
CPR (Basic Life Support - BLS) Required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Required
Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience with a focus on Neuro, Cardiac, and Ventilator management.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-stress ICU environment.
Previous Step-Down ICU experience is a plus.
Ability to work long shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Must be able to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods.
Travel RNs must be flexible and willing to float to Step-Down ICU as required.
