Position Summary: The General Manager assumes responsibility and is accountable for customer retention and the profitability of each department in the dealership. The General Manager fulfills responsibilities primarily through the use of sound business management practices. The General Manager plans, motivates, and coordinates the activities of the Management team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Strives to contribute to the store’s efforts to deliver an exceptional guest experience by making it a top priority to help other team members who are serving our guests. When interacting with guests, seeks to deliver exceptional guest experiences by going above-and-beyond. Serves as a role model/servant leader and ensures that the core values of the company are encompassed in behavior at all times. Recognizes and praises team members for exceptional performance. Explains the “why” behind requests or decisions. Demonstrates professionalism and avoids strong negative emotions. Encourages collaboration among team members from different departments. Treats all co-workers, customers, and vendors professionally and with respect. Hires, trains, and motivates all dealership department managers. Plans dealership operations for the coming year and submits to Asbury Automotive for approval. Ensures volume commitments to the manufacturer are met. Meets with the controller weekly to review departmental forecasts. Develops merchandising strategies and assists in creating effective advertising programs. Monitors daily operating control reports and implements improved courses of action. Provides accurate weekly reports on the financial condition of Asbury Automotive. Ensures that the monthly financial statement is complete and submitted on time. Develops and maintains a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel. Communicates management policies to all team members. Holds regularly scheduled managers meetings. Reviews and approves compensation plans for all team members. Coordinates with the accounting office to ensure accurate records are maintained. Resolves any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify. Complies with all organizational policies, practices, and procedures. Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Performs other duties as assigned. Provides leadership through example and sharing of knowledge. Addresses complaints in a timely manner according to company guidelines. Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit and talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand and walk. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Note:
