POSITION SUMMARY
The Bilingual Human Resources Generalist develops and implements effective HR policies, programs, and processes to support the organization, with a focus on production operations and employee needs. This role provides services in employee complaint investigation/response, discipline policy, employee management from onboarding to termination, performance management, training and development, and career pathing.
The HR Generalist works closely with operations management to develop and implement positive culture-building programs, employee appreciation/recognition initiatives, safety measures, workers' compensation/return-to-work actions, and proactive employee communications.
HOURS
Work Schedule Flexibility:
- This role requires flexibility to support both first and second shift operations.
- The start time will be either 8:30 AM or 10:00 AM, depending on coordination with the other HR Generalist to ensure comprehensive coverage across shifts.
- The ability to adapt to these varying schedules is essential to meet the needs of the organization and support all team members effectively.
Essential Functions:
- Provide counsel and support to managers/supervisors on company/HR policy application and production operation HR needs.
- Resolve employee relations issues, investigate complaints, and assist in dispute resolution.
- Practices strong engagement with all team members including accepting diversity of ideas and thoughts, sharing responsibility for success, demonstrating honesty and integrity, helping employees solve problems and showing respect.
- Conduct ER investigations, analyze organizational health issues, and work in partnership with the HR Manager to develop and execute plans to address problem areas.
- Provide guidance on employment related issues (such as ADA, FMLA, FLSA, harassment, discrimination, diversity, corrective action and progressive discipline).
- Prepares reports and identifies trends in employee related issues, turnover and performance trends and provides solutions to operations leadership.
- Facilitate HR processes and programs to ensure an ethical, fair and consistent approach by creating and developing models for sustaining positive employee relations and positive culture building.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of effective training and development programs to meet SOP requirements, skill proficiency and development needs.
- Provide counseling and directions to employees, facilitate communication, and help to resolve conflicts that impact employee engagement.
- Support recruiting efforts and participate in the planning and execution of activities and events to fill all open positions in the assigned area. Conduct pre-employment screenings and facilitate onboarding.
- Assist with the organization's performance management process by coaching, educating, and providing feedback to managers/supervisors.
- Provides HR support to operations safety programs, initiatives and processes including return to work and coordination of workers compensation programs.
- Partners with the employee engagement committee to ensure monthly engagement programs are organized and successful.
- Performs other assignments as directed.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills show by performing routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills shown by ability to handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities show by having experience attending and participating in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field preferred (combination of relevant work experience and education considered).
- Three to four years progressive Human Resource professional experience.
- HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
- Experience conducting HR in a manufacturing/production environment a plus.
Other Requirements
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PPT, Excel).
- Experience in HRIS systems, Paylocity preferred.
- Must be able to perform HR duties in Spanish and English.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
