Industrial Engineer Co-Op - Fall 2025

Entegris Our site in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a/an Industrial Engineer Co-Op to join our team for the Fall 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration. The Role: In this role, you will engage in optimizing and improving the efficiency of our materials processes related to materials handling, storage, and distribution. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and enhance overall material availability and inventory turns. What You’ll Do: Evaluate current materials processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety. Design and implement systems for inventory management, including replenishment strategies and stock level optimization. Develop and maintain standards and procedures for materials handling, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards. Maintain and update master data in ERP system, MES and capacity models to aid production. Learn how to lead and implement projects to improve operational efficiency and deliver savings which support corporate objectives of on-time delivery, productivity, scrap reduction, etc. Work with cross-functional teams to identify problems, analyze information and develop and implement process solutions. Time study critical (bottleneck) processes and build capacity models for your area/s. Time study all processes and build capacity models for essential equipment. Develop Value Stream Maps to improve material, process, and communication flows. Support the implementation of lean manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, standard work, problem solving, value stream mapping, training, and employee involvement. What We Seek: Excellent communication skills to clearly communicate ideas to all levels within the organization. Manufacturing experience. Ability to lead teams and implement projects through continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean or Six Sigma (DMAIC) with hands-on application - engaging floor practitioner. Experience with time and motion studies; capacity modelling. Experience in Advanced MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year: Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering. Graduating in December 2025 or later. Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student. Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in July through December. Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program. Entegris does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
