Superb attendance and punctuality, frequent computer use, seeing, hearing, speaking, ability to work standing up for prolonged periods of time, ability to work effectively when surrounded by animals and/or noise and in stressful conditions. The employee will be required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. During the course of the following tasks the Surgery Veterinary Technician must be able to lift on his/her own, up to 50 pound animals and must be able to assist in the lifting of animals weighing over 50 pounds. Any time a staff member is involved in lifting animals 50 pounds or greater, unassisted or with the help of other staff members, he/she is urged to wear the provided back braces Mental Requirements: Reading, reasoning, excellent verbal and written communication skills, diplomatic internal and external human and animal interactions, ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, coworkers and referring veterinarians, ability to read, analyze and interpret medical records and surgical reports, a caring and compassionate attitude, the ability to closely follow directions, ability to problem-solve with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities in a highly-demanding environment, excellent organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills, legible handwriting.
