Trade Support - Contracts Analyst - Houston

Overview of Role
Gunvor is seeking a motivated and detailed oriented individual who is ready to apply their knowledge in a fast-paced, real-world environment. The individual will support the deal life-cycle process with the timely preparation and delivery of contracts for all commodities traded by Gunvor USA, as well as verify broker confirmations and counterparty contracts.
Main Responsibilities
• Draft, review and analyze contracts for truck, tank transfers, railcar, and pipeline movements, ensuring the best commercial position and mitigating risk for Gunvor
• Engage with internal stakeholders and third parties to resolve contract discrepancies efficiently
• Maintain comprehensive records of internal and external contractual correspondence
• Conduct ad-hoc reporting, internal control, and other process related duties as required
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Assist in testing software application releases related to contract system functionality
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
• A bachelor's degree or a qualified paralegal with waterborne shipping, commodity trading, or similar experience
• Extensive experience with RINs, LCFS, and other emissions related contracts
• At least three years of experience with commodity contracts relating to truck, railcar, or pipeline movements
• Strong working knowledge of contract law principles and their application in the commodities trading industry
• In-depth understanding of commercial structures and critical controls affecting trade agreements
• Ability to analyze commercial and contractual structures, including industry-standard general terms and conditions
• Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities to meet internal and external deadlines
• Knowledge of Incoterms and how these terms are integrated into various contract provisions
Beneficial Qualifications / Experience
• Experience with commodity contracts relating to vessel, barge, or terminal/storage movements with an understanding of the contract provisions that are specific to each modality
• Experience with physical natural gas and power confirmations
• Experience with financial swap and option confirmations
