OVERVIEW:
The Lead Buyer is responsible to manage their regional supplier category panel with a strong financial QCD performance orientation.
Reports to: Head of Execution Travel: Requires up to 25% travel, both domestic and international
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Sourcing and Category Management: Develop and implement regional sourcing strategies for specific categories of goods and services, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring alignment with business needs. Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions, and managing the lifecycle of contracts, including renewals and terminations. Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and ensuring supplier performance and quality. Procurement Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall procurement performance. Team Leadership and Mentoring: May involve leading and mentoring procurement staff, providing guidance and training on procurement processes and best practices. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant internal procurement policies, procedures, and regulations, and identify and mitigate potential risks. Developing and implementing procurement strategies for specific categories. Conducting market research and supplier analysis. Developing and managing RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and RFQs (Requests for Quotes). Negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with corporate, legal and regulatory requirements. Managing supplier relationships and performance. Analyzing spend data and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders on procurement processes. Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Participating in cross-functional, international teams and projects. Maintain positive KPI results. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor in Supply Chain Management, Business and/or Engineering with emphasis or experience in Procurement or equivalent. Proven experience in procurement, ideally with a focus on strategic sourcing and contract management, and experience in a leadership role. 8 to 10 years procurement with manufacturing, engineering related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; 3 to 5 years of strong technical experience with Metals and Industry business. Knowledge: Thorough understanding of procurement principles, processes, and best practices, as well as relevant regulations and policies. Skills: Negotiation: Strong contractual and negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions from suppliers. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders. Spanish language proficiency a plus. Comfortable in an international, multi-cultural environment. Analytical: Strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and make data-driven decisions using your strong contractual background (LC, SBLC, LD). Problem-solving: Ability to identify and resolve complex procurement issues and claims management. Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate teams, and to influence and collaborate with stakeholders. Tools: Practical expertise in office systems such as MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project) and ERP tools such as SAP and Ivalua (e.g. purchasing - projects). Certifications: Professional certifications in procurement, such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), may be a plus.
