Job Summary
The MGH Institute of Health Professions (“Institute”) seeks a full-time Director of Clinical Education (DCE) with faculty rank in the Physician Assistant Studies program within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The primary focus of the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is to establish clinical education opportunities for students in the Physician Assistant Studies program. The Director will be responsible for developing relationships with clinical institutions and preceptors to secure placements for students, foster development of clinical preceptors, coordinate on-campus seminars for second year students, contribute to curriculum development, and prepare students for the Physician Assistant National Certifying exam (PANCE). This position also includes teaching, scholarship and service responsibilities, commensurate with level of faculty appointment.
Qualifications
- A candidate must be certified as a physician assistant by the NCCPA (PA-C) or a board-certified physician and eligible for licensure in MA.
- Five years or more of professional clinical practice experience.
- Prior academic or clinical teaching is strongly preferred.
- Experience coordinating learner programs or in an academic setting is highly desirable.

Skills and Responsibilities
- Knowledge of the PA profession and current PA practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of an interprofessional collaborative team.
- Ability to interact effectively and ethically with students, faculty, staff, preceptors, and administration.
- Must have the skills appropriate to a new faculty member.
- Other general competencies include:
- Administrative Skills- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Technical Skills- Ability to use information technology to support and execute the academic mission of the Institute.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises per diem preceptors and term lecturers.
