Description: 1.0 FTE MTSS Director, 8 hours a day for 260 Contract Days
Job Summary: The Director of MTSS is responsible for leading staff in maintaining a systemic, continuous improvement framework that ensures positive social, emotional, behavioral, developmental, and academic outcomes for all students. This includes ensuring the fidelity of processes that identify students who receive evidence-based interventions, leading staff in progress monitoring (including data collection and data analysis), and leading the process of adjusting interventions based on progress monitoring data. This role requires frequent, effective collaboration with all instructional staff, program-based leadership teams, and student services teams.
Leadership & Coordination
Lead and monitor a district-wide MTSS implementation plan aligned to the district's vision for MTSS; Implement and lead a District MTSS Committee with representation from programs or school sites and other key members of the school community; Implement MTSS intervention management systems and partner with programs or school sites to ensure effective data collection, data analysis, and program evaluation and efficacy; Provide work direction to Teaching & Learning Coordinators in alignment with the implementation of MTSS; Monitor and coach the review of data and data-based decision-making by all teams; Attend district and school leadership team meetings. Coaching & Professional Development
Coach program directors and program leadership teams for continuous progress on district and program action plans based on the self-assessment (SEMI) tools and other systems data; Develop training programs and provide ongoing coaching for leadership teams, staff, and teachers on the MTSS framework and research-based practices for tiered intervention; Facilitate leadership team attendance at MTSS training; Collaborate with district and program leaders to ensure all staff are provided professional development and coaching specific to their roles and responsibilities in implementing MTSS; Support new district and program team members in understanding the MTSS framework and how it is operationalized in the district. Systems Development
Facilitate the development of the district MTSS handbook or guidance materials; Based on needs assessment, oversee the development of Tier 1, 2, and 3 intervention protocols, problem-solving processes, data-based decision-making, progress monitoring, and communication and collaboration processes among Student Support Teams; Identify and implement district-wide universal screening for academics, social-emotional learning, and behavior; Collaborate with district leadership, program directors, and leadership teams to problem-solve implementation challenges; Collaborate with district leaders to intentionally plan for sustainability of the work at the end of the grant period (if position is funded by the grant). General Administration and Management
Attend MTSS grant coordinators' community of practice meetings (if position is funded by the grant); Schedule monthly meetings with the Regional MTSS Lead; Collaborate with Minnesota Department of Education staff and others on local, regional, and state initiatives; Conduct meetings and participate in local, regional, and state meetings as necessary; Present information items at Administration Meetings and Board Meetings as needed; Collaborate with member district administration for the purpose of maintaining services and/or programs. Qualifications :
Master's degree in education, human resources development, or a related field and be eligible for Minnesota License; and an active District Administrators license with Minnesota Department of Education or ability to obtain. Minimum of seven years of experience in a K-12 educational setting Preferred experience in educational administration or leadership Minnesota District Administrator license or ability to obtain Demonstrated success as a teacher, school leader, or district-level systems leader Knowledge of evidence-based K-12 Math and Literacy Tier I, II, and III, & SEL curricula Experience in data-driven decision-making, including analyzing academic performance data and recommending targeted strategies for intervention at all tiers (I, II, and III) Expertise in supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) using best practices for language acquisition and academic success. Knowledge of the MTSS framework, positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), response to intervention (RTI), social-emotional learning (SEL), restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and family engagement Ability to provide leadership and manage complex projects Ability to facilitate change management within individuals, teams, and organizations, including implementing professional learning for adult learners and staff development Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to collect and analyze data to drive improvement Commitment to working with students from marginalized communities through an asset-based mindset and approach Application Procedure: Apply Online at swmetro.k12.mn.us/employment_opportunities
