In conjunction with Delaware County Community College's Mission and Values, the Educational Assistant for Mathematics Remediation is responsible for supporting students and faculty in the College's two mathematics developmental courses. It is the responsibility of the Educational Assistant to support students as they learn in individualized sections of MAT 050 and to teach students in MAT 025. This may include reviewing mathematical concepts, assisting students with technological issues, and administering and proctoring exams. They are also responsible for the constant evaluation of student learning and are expected to share their insights from teaching and assisting Faculty members on how to improve the developmental mathematics program at the College with Mathematics Faculty and the Dean and Assistant of STEM.
In addition to the competitive salary and benefits package DCCC offers, Educational Assistants are given time off between each of the academic semesters. This includes, but is not limited to, multiple weeks off during the December/January holiday season and the summer and a week off during the College's Spring Break.
Provide content instruction to students enrolled in their section(s) of MAT 025.
Assess the knowledge of students enrolled and submit grades representative of their knowledge and achievement on assessments in MAT 025.
Assist MAT 050 Individualized Instructors by helping their students with content questions and administering tests, according to College policies and the structure of each individual instructor's section(s).
Connect students with the campus resources that will best supplement the needs of those enrolled in your section(s).
Supplement the learning accomplished in class by facilitating drop-in tutoring hours for students in developmental mathematics courses.
Attend professional development and training sessions offered to fulltime staff at the College.
Meet with Mathematics Faculty and Assistant Dean, STEM to address items related to the individualized curriculum.
Maintain relevant course materials and information (syllabus, assignments, grades, etc.) in Canvas for MAT 025.
Attend formal observation meetings with the Assistant Dean, STEM to gain input on your teaching acumen and discuss ways in which you can improve.
Commute to branch campuses to fulfill duties there.

The successful candidate must be an engaging, effective, innovative, dynamic professional who fosters collaboration. This individual will be able to demonstrate the use of best practice strategies associated with all aspect of teaching and tutoring Mathematics education for development courses. This individual will demonstrate a spirit of an independent problem-solver and a strong understanding of the College's mission and goals. Educational Assistants will demonstrate a high level of patience, flexibility, and confidentiality when dealing with student. The Educational Assistant will also have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thought and perspective of all individuals of various backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives to foster an all-inclusive environment and drive retention and completion results.
Qualified candidate must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field of study to Mathematics or Mathematics Education. A bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education is preferred.
