Job Title: After-School Counselor (Asst. Teacher)
Status: part time
Hours: M-F 3:00-6pm, 2:15-6pm on Thursday
Wage: $14.88/hr dep. on experience
Probation: Subject to a 12 month introductory (probationary) period
UM Students: The Missoula Y is an approved work-study employer for work-study aid
POSITION SUMMARY:The Missoula Family Y is hiring after school counselors! If you are friendly, creative and reliable, and want to make a difference in kids' lives this could be a great fit for you. The hours are Monday-Friday, 3-6pm, 2:15-6pm on Thursday, preferably at least three (3) shifts per week.The After School Counselor is enthusiastic and creates a safe, fun environment for children ages 5 years through 12 and will teach and model YMCA character values and sportsmanship. Under the guidance of the School Age Assoc. Director and onsite lead counselors, the After School Counselor is responsible for providing and implementing a high quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum in specific program areas, ensuring children’s social, physical, spiritual and mental development in the program. Applicants must like working with children, be self-motivated, good communicators. They must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization and work with general supervision.

Requirements
Required – Must have current CPR and First Aid certificates or obtain them within first 60 days of employment
Preferred – High School diploma or equivalent, or combination of education and experience
Required – Evidence of current tetanus shot and current MMR
Preferred - Experience with working with children
Prefered- Valid MT driver's license with insurable drivers record – required to drive Y vehicles
